I bought these Califone headphones (along with another pair from Kidz Gear) so my 23 month-old daughter could play games on my iPad during a long flight without disturbing other passengers. She loves anything animal-related right now, so she immediately gravitated toward the tiger motif on these headphones when I pulled them out of the box. (She bypassed the Kidz Gear headphones, which don't have any sort of design on them). They were very easy to fit on her, and she didn't seem to mind the feeling of them on her ears at all. I can't speak to how comfortable they are when worn for long periods, since our little-one doesn't use the iPad for more than about 30-minutes at a time. The individual volume control wheel is a nice touch, so you can reduce the volume to a safe level for little ears. I know this is probably a shortcoming of all over-the-head style headphones, but I do wish that it was easier to check the volume on these headphones. A few times, I had to remove these headphones from my daughter's ears and SQUEEZE them on my head in order to make sure that she was able to hear the sound from the iPad over the loud ambient noise in the airplane cabin. Needless to say, she was not a happy camper to have her headphones summarily removed, and my head/ears are still smarting from the discomfort of being squished! But, as I previously said, there is probably no way to avoid this with headband-style, kid-sized headphones. I also wish these headphones were foldable, since they can be a bit bulky for travel. However, as toddler-friendly headphones go, Califone is still among the best.Grade: A-I got these for my very petite 2-1/2 year old to use w/ a portable DVD on a plane. They fit her well enough with plenty of room to grow (the ear cups slide on the headband to expand some), and I think the animal faces helped her to accept them. Sometimes she just let them hang around her neck, but at least that kept the sound of her movies from traveling too far from us. Sound quality is adequate for this age. They did not, for some reason, work well with SOME armrest audio on the planes. It did fine on a newer plane (with headrest video screens), but, as I read in another review of a similar product, it seemed to amplify cabin/plane noise on an older plane that just had the audio options. That probably has more to do with the plane than these headphones. The only problem I had with them was packing them. They do not collapse, fold, or twist, so they take up a bit of space (and you don't want to crush them). In the "relaxed" state, they form a roughly 6" circle, and the tiger's face/ear cups are about 2-1/2" wide. I would recommend these and would probably buy them again, as there are not many options out there for very small children.I bought these headphones for my 4- and 3-year-olds for 2 cross-country airplane trips. I brought a portable DVD player and didn't want everyone around us to hear the movie. I did some research and choose these specifically because they supposedly keep the airplane noise out instead of enhancing it as most headphones do. I am happy to report that they work exactly the way they are supposed to. You can hear the movie (or whatever you are using it for) and not the airplane noise. I also like the fact that the volume doesn't go too high to hurt little ears. The headphones are big enough to fit over my head. I tested them out before letting my kids use them. I could easily hear the movie's sound without it being on the highest volume and there wasn't any airplane noise that disturbed it. Even though it fit my head, the ear pads are definitely for kid-size ears.The kids love the tiger design on the ear phones and the several people on the plane commented on how cute they are.We haven't used the headphones for anything other than the airplane but they were a huge success so they are now part of our packing list for future trips.These were great for our 1 year old. We used them on her first flight to help distract her with videos when she was tired of sitting still for so long.Our daughter is pretty finicky with things on her head, so we were surprised that she didn't try to pull them off, which likely means they were comfortable for her.They fit her well on the smallest setting and they are adjustable for bigger kids (they almost adjusted enough that they could fit my huge head, but were not quite long enough to reach both ears).The volume can be adjusted directly on the chord which is a nice feature. We generally kept the volume up all the way on the cord and adjusted it on the device instead, to prevent our daughter from inadvertently turning it up to loud and damaging her ears.Overall they are sturdy and survived being dropped on several occasions.The designs are adorable. We purchased the panda and the tiger. My young children sometimes realize that there is a volume control on the wire and they play with it and then one will inevitable cry out that the movie is quiet and they can't here. Although I remind them that they can't touch the volume control, they just can't help themselves! My only other complaint is that they begin to hurt my children's ears over the span of 1 movie. They complain that their ears hurt and when you feel these headphone pads, they are soft but not malleable and the plastic is very ridged. So there is a lot of pressure after a while and then we end up pulling them out of the dvd player and just listen to the movie out loud.Love these! They are ace, my daughter wears them even without music. She is 2 and they fit her perfectly and are comfortable.Fits my 3yr old's head perfectly. The design is cute for kids, and the noise is not too high. You can control the volume and it is not too loud for their little ears.
