I think one of the strongest selling points for these phones are their comfort. You don't think you need it until you try it once and understand the difference - because it turns out being distracted by any discomfort will disrupt your listening experience in ways you really wish it didn't. These headphones feel incapable of discomfort even if you wore them all day long.As for the sound quality, these phones (like any other headphones) are going to show 'colorization' at certain frequencies and this model has colorization behavior that concerned me and most likely others too. These headphones are a just a bit too bright at louder volumes (particularly for music). It's very clear they are this way if you check out their frequency response graph (see photo) - especially at higher volumes. Another graph clearly shows it gets even more pronounced the louder it gets (see photo). If you don't suspect you will listen to these at louder volumes most of the time, then this isn't really an issue, and can actually be an advantage because brightness at lower volumes generally improves clarity. That said, my impression is that these headphones were not quite intended to be used at higher volumes. From a numbers perspective, the graphs show this, and additionally, this particular model is rated up to 100 mW of power whereas other comparable phones can handle up to 1,000 mW (there's not a lot of room for loud volumes / higher power use). In fact, if you run these at louder volumes, you can tell they start to clip a bit sooner than you might expect.Granted, a lot of people are not going to use these at higher volumes - but I also know there are people out there that really want to listen to music loudly (not ear bleeding!) and these headphones show concerns at the kind of loudness I am trying to describe. If you think you will listen to these loudly - what you can do about it is use software (or hardware) to alter the EQ of whatever you are running these on. I use them on my laptop (behind a DAC/Amp) and for those of you who are using them on a computer, you may be very interested in a free software called Equalizer APO along with the Peace plugin. It will give you a 13 band EQ where you can set the changes wherever and however you want. The most useful feature of this software is you can overlay the picture of the frequency response graph on top of the graph of the changes you are making. When done this way, you can achieve a highly accurate and complete correction of the colorization (see photo). Do note that if you do this, to not apply as much correction as you get closer to the high end because of the way the headphones behave with volume changes - you will want to only correct about 2/3 to 1/2 as much to give some room for these changes. If you bother to do this - it will drastically improve the sound profile of these headphones. It will feel like you added 100's of dollars of value to them because frankly - it's quite difficult to manufacture headphones to sound uncolored by themselves - the physics behind it will always introduce some colorized sound. There is some color you may want and others you don't - but if you don't bother to use something to correct for the colorization - you might find yourself wondering if some other pair of headphones will more closely produce your 'ideal' sound and begin a cycle of trying to find that 'perfect' pair and keep discovering they all have some bit of colorization. If you spend about $150 here you can get top of the line comfort and very capable headphones, and for free, help correct it's sound profile to your needs. Now, you can't improve certain things like sound stage or imaging this way - but if you were concerned about that there's a good chance this model wasn't your first choice because these are closed headphones and not the top of the line model offered by this company.Beyond the brightness colorization, the mid and bass response are great. The mids stay pretty neutral at all volumes. As some people have noted, they can be bassy.Yes - they are very capable of reproducing the low end in ways most headphones just can't. To be more specific, they have pretty good low end *range* - as in you can really hear the sub bass. But, there is a slight problem with their bass response at specifically around 210 Hz.I highly suspect with non-electronic music you may not notice this because it's not the most represented frequency - but if you do listen to electronic music - there's a good chance you will feel the bass doesn't quite sound the way you remember. Well, it happens to be a prominent frequency for kicks and bass lines - so it's fairly present in the sound spectrum for electronic music. I would boost this area specifically to see the difference and leave it at that. There will be some people who think that, overall, the bass is too present, and indeed it's true that there is significant bass response if you look at the frequency response graph. Just like with the brightness, it gets more pronounced the louder you go. For those of you who listen to electronic music, there's a good chance you will really appreciate this - it can be amazing how these headphones respond. However, if you don't listen to electronic music - this is probably unwanted in a lot of cases. Again, I would apply EQ correction for this - but in this case I would just apply an overall bass reduction as the bass response is pretty even unlike the high end which has several peaks and valleys in that range and is more complex to correct. That about wraps out my thoughts on the sound quality.I will say that if you don't have an amp for the 80+ ohm models, you will most likely find these too quiet - they will sound about half as loud as you expect they can achieve. This is expected because of the higher resistance. Most likely, you will want an amp to drive these. That said, I don't recommend the 80+ ohm models for mobile users... those are more for stationary users. If you don't already have an amp, and plan on getting one, do yourself a favor, and make sure that either your amp has a built-in DAC, or plan to get a separate DAC. The main reason for that is the DAC will ensure the amp is getting the kind of electrical signal it's expecting. In my case when I only had the amp and no DAC, the amp was prematurely clipping at lower volumes because of the output from the laptop - this was immediately fixed by the DAC I bought. As for the build quality - pretty sure these will last a lifetime with care. There's nothing particular cheaply made that I noticed about these phones. I'm not concerned with the way they look. They aren't displeasing to me - but I'm also not thinking these are the coolest looking phones, but I don't care about that.In the past year, I have gone through a long list of headphones and headsets. I finally, got down to two. The first, was the infamous, most talked-about, reviewed and beloved, Philips SHP9500. I bought them because I heard so much about them. However, they were discontinued for the longest time. Then, I got the Sennheiser HD58X Jubilee, which is very similar to the HD660 S. Those are definitely keepers. Then, I was hearing about the other superb, but more expensive headphones, made by Philips, which is the Fidelio X2HR. At its current price, I had to get them. I loved the Fidelio X2HR, but they were heavy and I got headaches from the sound. So, I decided to add another set of headphones to my collection, but closed-back. I have been looking at the DT 770 Pro 80 ohm for a long time. Now, I decided to plunge.DT 770 PRO LIMITED EDITION/DT 770 PRO: The limited-edition version has only two differences from the standard DT 770 PRO models. First, the velour earpads are black, rather than the standard, gray. Also, the logo on the side of the ear cups is a shiny metallic, rather than the standard, painted logo, which can disappear over time with use.DESIGN/FEATURES: The DT 770 Pro is a closed-back design. However, they can leak, slightly. The drivers of the DT 770 Pro are 45mm, which is medium. The frequency response is an outstanding, 5-35,000 Hz. The impedance is 80 ohms. For PS4 gamers, who plan to game with a controller, 80 ohms is a little high. Therefore, the controller will not be able to drive these. So, an AMP or DAC will be needed for better performance. Overall, the design of the DT 770 Pro is basic, but kinda cool at the same time. It has a similar build to the HyperX Cloud gaming headsets. The headband is made of metal, which is covered with a thick-layered pad, which can be switched out. Just undo the buttons and voila! Also, two wires protruding from the bottom of each side of the pad and into the ear cups. The ear cups are made of hard plastic with a spatter design. The edges of the ear cups are shiny. The ear cushions are over-the-ear and made of a nice, comfortable and breathable velour. They can get a bit warm, but not to the point where a break is needed to cool down. There is a 1.6mm straight-cord, which is not detachable. Honestly, I do not care for this.BASS/MID-BASS/SUB-BASS: This is the best feature of these headphones. The bass frequencies are deep, detailed, powerful, precise, punchy, thunderous and tight. No muddiness. At times, the performance of the bass comes out of nowhere. It is like the bass kicks in when it is cued to. If that makes sense. Not to mention, the bass is somewhat reserved, so it does not overpower the sounds and vocals. Out of curiosity, I tested the performance of the DT 770 Pro while playing various shooters on PS4 Pro. The first test was done while playing Call Of Duty WWIII played. The most impressive thing was hearing how loud and clear the explosions were nearby. Once, I used a Glide Bomb killstreak, which landed onto an enemy, not far from me. All I could hear was a clean and thunderous boom. Hearing multiple explosions is heavenly to the ears. For example, a teammate used an Artillery Barrage killstreak. I was in awe of how the explosions of several artillery rounds hitting the ground, gave a surprisingly, clean, loud, and punchy, sound. Great mid-bass, as well. Overall, I would say, the clarity of the sound and the bass is similar to watching tv while listening to a soundbar with a subwoofer. Very smooth.HIGHS: The sound is somewhat bright. Everything is crystal clear and clean, overall. The treble highs are nice, as well. No grain or distortion. However, there can be sibilance, depending on what is being listened to. Results and ears vary. For example, Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 is a prime example, which has lots of sharp sounds. Gunshots are loud but clear. Each time bullets hit, there a loud, thumping sound, which follows with a loud, “squish”, when a kill is achieved. I found having the volume high while hearing this sound can be harsh of the ears. However, on Call Of Duty WWII, not so much. In fact, I had the dial of my Astro Mixamp turned three-quarters high and the highs were not bad. The high end of female voices sounds great. Hearing the female voices from characters in WWII was one thing. Hearing them on Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 is another. Hearing my female character, Battery’s voice lines sound great. “Cluster grenade, enjoy!” “Splash!” “Dropped!” “All right, boom time.” “All talk!” “Doggone!” Those are some of my favorite voice lines of hers. Once, Battery ran inside of an open-ended bay of the Summit map. Battery said a voice line, while outside of the bay. Then, her voice became magnified, as she entered the bay. Plus, there was an echo of Battery's voice. The authenticity of the echo was unbelievable and nearly, scary. This was a good example of a transition between mid to high sounds.IMAGING/SOUNDSTAGE: The DT 770 Pro has good imaging. They handle directional sounds, exceptionally, well. With that said, I tested the performance of the DT 770 Pro while playing Call Of Duty Black Ops 4. The best map, which showcases the performance of the best is the “Occupation” map, which is a close-quarters. I could hear what was going on and direction, where the action was taking place on the map, whether it was dialogue, gunshots or explosions. Of course, footsteps could be heard, as well. It seems the sound magnifies toward closer sounds coming from a different direction. For example, each time my character looks in one direction, the sound increasingly amplifies in the direction and less in the opposite direction, where lesser actions were taking place. Considering, these are closed-back headphones, they have a decent soundstage. Possibly, the best of most closed-back headphones or headsets. Of course, the result is not comparable to open-back headphones, which has a greater, more open soundstage by default. Of course, I am sure, some are wondering about footsteps. Well, the DT 770 Pro, picks up footsteps in games VERY well.LOWS/MIDS: The lows and mids are great, as they pick up subtle sounds with no effort, thanks to the headphones lows. I am hearing sounds, which I could barely hear with other headphones, such as the breaking of glass from afar, breakage of pottery, or bullet casings hitting the floor. Then, there are detailed sounds, such as the unbelievable sound of crunching, as my character was trampling through the deep snow, cracking of the ice or sounds of moving water, while swimming on the Icebreaker map. Hearing explosions from afar sounds good, too.NOISE CANCELLATION: These are closed-back, so no sound should leak out, nor coming in. However, sound can leak in from the outside a bit because the pads are made of valour, not leather, which can seal a better. Still, not enough to where outside noise can be distracting.VERDICT: Overall, the DT 770 Pro is a great headset. Good sound. Great bass. Great soundstage for a closed-back design. A nice and sleek design. Plus, it is manufactured by a company that has a good reputation. Considering all of that, these are worth trying out.The first headphones (or speakers) that I don't have to equalize (30 ohm)! I have pitch perfect hearing and live/die on music in my life. But never invested in good quality headphones before these (I generally like to feel my music though big speakers). For the price these seem like a terrific value to me... the sound is SO good. For listening to "Fine Music", I can't imagine anything better. The sound is crisp, full, rich, bass is very solid, and every little nuance of sound comes through (shocked to hear sounds on my vinyl that I've never heard before!). However, be aware these are STUDIO headphones; they are not designed to emphasize anything; they're flat spectrum. So, if you want that razor-ripping sound from a heavy metal guitar as I do sometimes, these don't do that without some unusual EQ tweaking. They don't distort... that's the great thing on most music, but that also means they don't sound like a rock concert or a Marshall amplifier in your living room. But, I have gotten closer to that with some 20 band EQ. Direct from my laptop they (30 ohm) are not loud enough for me, but might be sufficient for some people/purposes. Using my Harman Kardon amp they are louder than I can handle. I listen to all types of music and my favs like Enigma or Alan Parsons or Aretha (yea, old school, lol) is just dreamy with these headphones! AKG, Audio-Technica, Shure, Grado - was auch immer. Also vielleicht doch Absicht. They're OK but I would recommend going to 250 ohm ones, at least 80 ohm ones as 32ohm DT's are just to muddy for anything Studio/Pro/HiFi related. Hence the Mobile use reference. But that goes with price.Bear in mind that this is review when you have quality source in use.I can write this below and then c/p to all my DT's Reviews:What is the difference between higher ohm and 32ohm DT headphones everyone is asking?Which one should I choose? Higher ohm ones have more quality, I want them! No, that is not completely true.Read below:32ohm => If you listen to Youtube/SpotifyFree and you don't have Quality Amp/DAC then 32ohm DT's WILL sound better and be better choice.Higher OHM=> If you have a good Amp which can drive 100ohm+ headphones, you have a quality DAC, you listen to at least 320kbit MP3's, but usually FLAC/CD/DVD/Tidal then yes, higher ohm headphones will sound better.Getting a quality DAC and Amp costs money (a lot of) so if you don't have it and you don't want to invest in it than skip higher ohm ones if you don't listen to HQ music. However, will you get better sound with more ohms, that is correct, yes.As explained in a simple thing, more ohms with more "resistance" will "return speakers much faster in place where they've been".More faster they return they will faster continue reproducing another sound/wave, hence the usage in Pro/Studio equipment to spot any issues. Grazie
