Overall, - I gave the Mighty 3 stars, because there is an even balance of things I like and dislike about it overall. Ultimately, I’d say the average person would be happy with this device, but it may take some getting use to. A small price to pay for a detraction free workout I guess.I used it for about a week before I wrote a review. This was to give myself time to use the Mighty player in a few workouts and give it a fighting chance.Initially I stumbled across the Mighty player, when looking for something to play my music during workouts to replace my huge iPhone 8 Plus! Initially I wanted an ipod shuffle, but once I realized Apple discontinued them, I began looking for an alternate solution. The Mighty was a bit more expensive then I would have liked to spend, mainly because I had never heard of it. However, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, so I don't mind spending close to $100 for something, If I believe it will work.Good - When it arrived, I liked the size and the simplicity of the device. I feel like every device I own is trying to take over my life and think for me... So, it was comforting to know that all it does is play music!! The design was simple and no digital interface to figure out!Good - Instruction manual was short and sweet and directed me to download the Mighty app, where I would be led through setup.Bad - The Mighty app in general. When I downloaded the app, it included a walkthrough of the Mighty players interface, to describe the various lights and buttons. However, the manual referred to "white" lights, that I found out through deductive reasoning where actually "pink" on the model I purchased. (Update your manual for goodness sake!).It took me some time to figure out how to connect the Mighty player to the app, then even more time to realize that you can’t sync songs unless your connected to WI-FI. Then, when trying to sync initially, the Mighty player kept connecting, and disconnecting. Ultimately, I think I spent a good hour trying to figure out the app with all its little nuances. As a Web Developer/ Designer, I equate that to bad design and in this day and age, just feel it's unacceptable.Bad - The Spotify / Mighty app separation. Why in the world are there two apps? It would have been much more convenient to control the Mighty player (That's made exclusively for Spotify) from Spotify, as a plugin or something like that. I don't like that I have to navigate between Spotify and Mighty to update, add, sync, etc. I'm sure they had their reasons for doing this, but as a user who doesn't care about all that – it’s annoying.Good - Once I finally figured out the app interface (which again, was confusing) set up was fairly easy and strait forward. The app automatically sync's with Spotify on your phone to show playlists you can select to add for download to the Mighty player. You can select playlists individually or select to fill it up.You can even set a time of day for it to sync, previously added playlist in case of changes since last update. I haven't tested this yet, but I'm assuming it will only work if your connected to WIFI and the device is charging or turned on... which (Bad) just gives me another thing to remember to do before I go to bed.Bad - When I noticed more music had been added to my Recently Played in Spotify. I opened the Mighty app to try and sync the album that had just been added. However, when navigating to Recently Played in the Mighty app, the new playlist wasn't there. I figured maybe there was a delay, so I waited... refreshed... and waited... refreshed... logged out… logged in… waited, refreshed… and, well you get the point.24 hours later, it still wasn't being recognized by Mighty. So trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I emailed support and asked why this was happening. They did reply within 48 hours, but their response was in short, "Apologies, I'm not sure why this is happening, uninstall Spotify and Mighty app, then try again". Unfortunately, that didn't work... So, I found a work around where If I make an album into a playlist within Spotify, then refresh Mighty, it will recognize the new “playlist” and allow you to sync. Still have not figured out the Recently Played issue.Bad - How long the Mighty player takes to turn on. It takes anywhere from 30-60 seconds to turn on - which I don’t understand what it could possibly be doing for that long. If anything, this is just annoying when you’re ready to start your workout and have to wait for your little mp3 player to finish "warming up".Bad - The blue tooth syncing. At the time of writing this review, I have used the Mighty player at least 10 times. For the life of me I can’t figure out the actual process to connect the device to my headphones once turned on. I have a $350 pair of Boss, bluetooth headphones, and those things literally think for themselves. But when trying to connect to theMighty player, I have to do a song and dance before the connection is successful. I have still not quite figured out exactly the best way to do it, but just keep turning it on and off and pushing/holding down buttons on the player... until it connects!Good - Once I figured out all the little quarks of the software/hardware, I’d say I was overall happy with it. I can run/workout without my phone and almost forget that the Mighty player is even attached to my shirt. Its light, durable, and easy to use. While working out, playing music and changing playlists is easy and no complaints so far.Bad - Mighty player to headphone proximity issues. One thing I’ve noticed while working out, is if the Mighty player is not within 8-12 inches from my headphones, the music will spit and skip a bit. Once I experienced this, I started clamping it to my shirt collar and no more issues after that. It's been a long, long time -- YEARSZZZzzzz -- since I actually sat and wrote an Amazon review. Such a pity, considering how much I tend to rely on others'. But I digress. This little gadget deeeefffffinitely compelled me to make one helluv an exception!!!!I have been searching for YEARSSZZZzzzzz for something JUST like this -- basically, an MP3 player-like device that would allow me to listen to not just music but SPECIFICALLY SPOTIFY'S MUSIC -- as I've been a huge Spotify junkie for years..no shame -- and WITHOUT relying on my cellphone or an otherwise Internet connection.Introduce Mighty. Egggfreakingzactly all tf I've been asking, hoping, and praying for!!!!!Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical in purchasing from some of the reviews that said it doesn't work and you still end up needing an Internet connection. For me, it has WORKED!!!!!! You only need an Internet connection for the initial setup (and I believe anytime you want to update your playlists from your Spotify account), and that is IT!!!! You're off to the races!!!!!!!So far since getting this thing, I've been on SEVERAL long walks without my phone and have still been able to jaaammm to my beloved Spotify!!!!!!!I use my favorite Bluetooth earphones with them, and the sound is *MUAH!!* FLAWLESS!!!!! I even was just still listening to it while walking around my apartment while the device relaxed on my kitchen counter tonight!! And still no issues with connection. Most DEFinitely one of the greatest purchases I've made on this site.. and I've made..a LOT... and over MANY years. This might be.. at least top 10, maybe even top 5.I love this thing overall. If I had to call out any possible negatives, it'd be that the thing is pretty damned small, so I'm almost positive I'm gonna lose or misplace it at some point. It isn't the most practical for keeping up with outside of when you're actively using or wearing it. It does have a little slit on the clip that I suspect is intended for a lanyard clip or something of that nature -- would've been nice if they'd provided something like that!! (Will have to double-check that they didn't.) But alas... We can't have it all, right? And I'm sure many find the smaller size much more convenient and helpful for its purpose -- basically just plays your music and gets outta your way. No distractions, like your much larger phone and other devices might be.Only other drawback is the limitation of the number of songs. I think it's somewhere around 1,000. I have literally over 100 playlists on Spotify, so it be nice to be able to bring in more of those lists with more songs. Buuutt I also understand 1,000 songs is...a lot. lol.. And I was able to get all of my most favored playlists -- I think somewhere around 10 -- up there and, from what I've been listening to do far, have barely tipped the iceberg of all the song options. So, overall, I'm not mad!!For what I've been needing for many years and what all this provides, I'll take those minor drawbacks any day. This device is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Huge kudos to the company that finally made it happen. <3 <3 <3Marry me!!!!!I’m going to parrot what a lot of reviewers have already stated. The initial setup takes some time…a long time. It connected to Spotify quickly enough; the time-consuming part was downloading my one running playlist. It was further complicated because each time my phone would go to sleep it needed to re-establish the connection. Anytime I have changed my playlist on Spotify it prompts the Mighty to sync. It’s something I have to keep in mind if I’m planning a morning run. The Mighty also has to ‘warm up’ before it can be used. At first, this caused me a lot of problems until I started the habit of turning it on before my warmup routine. It does not always remember my AfterShokz headphones either. I knew it was meant to be used with a Spotify or Amazon account. Still, I’m surprised that MP3s from my computer can not be downloaded to it.When I do get it working it performs amazingly. It is small and lightweight which is great because of its lack of range. I have to clip it to my collar; it will not play smoothly if left in my pocket. It holds a ton of music, has great battery life, and so far, has survived a large amount of moisture.I expected something better for a 120-dollar device. I suppose it will be worth it if it can last longer than the previous MP3 players I have purchased. Was so excited to get this. But it’s sadly disappointing for a very simple reason: the clip just isn’t strong enough to work! The music / syncing aspect of the device works really well, but this is rendered completely useless if you intend to use the Mighty for sports. No matter where I tried fixing it, it fell off when I ran! In the end I had to put it in my pocket, which meant that I couldn’t reach the controls easily. So stupid.Customer service was also useless. When emailed explaining the issue and asking if it was just MY Mighty that has a faulty clip, they came back and told be that no, the clip was *purposefully* weak & couldn’t be made stronger because (and I quote) “..that would break the clip”! And.. “if it doesn’t work then use a lanyard.”What.I just spent almost £100 ona product that doesn’t work properly and they were telling me to use a lanyard!? That’s admittting defeat and offering nothing! if a clip that is specifically designed to function *as a clip* in sporting environments doesn’t actually *work*... this just boils down to the clip being badly designed.I mean.. what’s it’s purpose otherwise? It only has one job!!I never once had this issue with the iPod shuffle... I’m surpursed they haven’t adjusted the design. It seems a really obvious and simple thing to change: if it breaks when it’s too tight then they’re obviously using the wrong materials. So yeah. Disappointing. Was almost just what I needed, but nope. Will be returning it as it just doesn’t do what is required of it.trotz der mageren Sternebewertungen wollte ich diesem Produkt eine Chance geben. Das rechtfertigt diesen Preis auf gar keinen Fall.I'm on my second Mighty now, the first one seemed to not like playing with Bluetooth headphones. During my experience with the first Mighty I had to contact Mighty support and found out that they are absolutely useless, after an initial email (so they could say they had responded to me) I've heard nothing since.... That was over a week ago now and I've since replaced the unit through Amazon. The second unit works well with all the Bluetooth headphones I have tried it with, I think the crucial difference was that a software update did not apply properly to the first Mighty, and I had no way of manually re-applying it, or re-triggering the update as an end user. I can't comment on the battery life or longevity yet, but will update if I have any problems. Also, to confirm this definitely does work with Spotify Premium for family, I think the person who said it didn't work in a below review is just being a donut.Edit: I used this once in the end, and replaced it with a Garmin smart watch which is more more convenient to use. These don't really have much of a purpose.Very easy to set up, the app works very well. Only issue we had is that it doesn't work with spotify premium family, so it's costing me 9.99 a month on top of the rest of the families subscription. No problems with battery life or Bluetooth connectivity so far though. This music player is exactly what I've been waiting for ever since I discovered Spotify, as it allows me to take my Spotify music out when I go walking, without needing to faff about with my phone when I want to change tracks. It was relatively easy to set up with the app, and it's quite intuitive to use. There is a 'tour' on the app to explain what all the different coloured lights mean. After about a month of use, I did have an issue where I was unable to connect to the app, and also I was getting an error message from the device saying I had too many devices connected to my Spotfiy account to continue (which wasn't true). I contacted customer support and I was walked through the solution over a series of polite and concise emails. The battery life could be better, but I just have to remember to charge it up after around 3 hours worth of use.I'm really pleased with this device and I definitely think it's worth the money. I do feel slightly apprehensive sometimes when it doesn't connect to the app, but it usually does after a few tries, and now customer support have told me how to do a reboot, so I can try that in the future. If it continues to work as it has been, then I will definitely be happy to recommend it. I know this is early days for this company, so I want to support them, as I think this is such a great idea.
